Davis, James W.: We would like to know about
our gggrandparents, JAMES W. and ELVIRA MARY (WOOD) DAVIS, plus two of their
children. JAMES W. DAVIS and MARY with their family settled on land in Sections
26 and 35, Township 12
South, Range 15 West (originally in Marion County but now in Lamar
County) in 1854. Their Land Grant applications and deeds range in date
from 1854 to 1857, which is the last date we have anything on JAMES W.
The last record we have of MARY is on the 1860 Sanford County census.
