Queries

Gartman, James Cecil:  I am submitting the name James Cecil Gartman. He was born in Fernbank, Alabama which is located in Lamar County. His wife was Nettie B. Fortner Gartman. His father was Emmett Key Gartman. Any information would be helpful. Contact: Pam Day (daytwinmom@earthlink.net) Thank You.

GILMORE:  John Gilmore b. 1798 in Georgia, son of John Gilmore Sr. b. 1774 North Carolina.  John Jr. was in Mississipp in 1820 and in Fayette/Lamar ALA by 1826  He is buried in the Pearson/Gilmore Cemetery.  I have a photo of him wearing a sheriff's star pinned on his chest.  Does anyone have knowledge of a Gilmore sheriff or marshal in these states?  Thanks, Judy C. Fillerup colmall@msn.com

GRAY, Marion Madison:  Looking for family of Marion Madison GRAY (1805-1854) who died in Millville (maybe Lamar County) in 1854 per Indian war pension.  Maried to Lucy Ann Kidd in Campbell Co, Ga.  Was in Randolph County, Ala 1850.  Children Jane b 1834, Allard b 1837, James b 1838, Malinda b 1840, Oliver b 1842, Lucy b 1844 and John b 1846.  Lucy and younger children are in Franklin County in 1860.  Have picture which is identified as aunt Allard Smith.  Believe this
is the daughter Allard listed above.  If they were in Lamar county they would have been of marriageable age.  I understand that a lot of families from Pickens and Lamar moved on to Franklin County.  There is no Millville in Franklin County.  Township atlas indicated that there was a Millville Precinct in Lamar County.  could Madison be buried there?  Any help on this family will be appreciated.  Contact name:  Micki J. Burleson e-mail:   mickiandtom@compuserve.com. 4/13/02

Guyton, Cassy M.:  Searching for family of Cassy M. Guyton (b 1843, Marion County). Married to my Great-Great-Grandfather, Daniel W Strawbridge, 28 Jan 1875. Also searching for father and mother of Daniel W. Strawbridge. Daniel W
Strawbridge appears in area in 1850 Fayette County census as a 5 year old.
However Daniel is listed in the household of Joseph and Elizabeth Strawbridge who are recorded as being 70 and 60 years old. Believe Joseph and Elizabeth Strawbridge to be grandparents of Daniel W Strawbridge. Appreciate any time and consideration! Contact:  Carey D'Wayne Strawbridge cdstraw@comcast.net
