ELIAS JENKINS  --  is the son of Nathan and Hannah (Webb) Jenkins.  He was born in this
county March 14, 1846, and married August 27, 1868, to Sarah E., daughter of George W.
and Sarah (Manring) Corn.  She was born in Lawrence county May 15, 1853.  Their children
are:  Allie E., born July 8, 1869; resides in Lawrence county, Ohio; Emma S., December 5,
1870; Nathan E., July 13, 1872; Lucretia S., November 3, 1873; George E., February 14,
1874, died February 25, 1874; Charles A., March 14, 1876; William C., April 23, 1878; Alvie
N., April 16, 1880; Otto W., March 8, 1882.  Mr. Jenkins is a farmer of Lawrence township.
His address is Aid postoffice, Lawrence county Ohio.

NATHAN JENKINS, Junior  -- was born in Lawrence county, Ohio, December 31, 1852, and
he was married in Ironton, this county, June 5, 1870, to Elizabeth J. Rowe, who is a native
of Pike county, Kentucky, where she was born October 15, 1841.  Their children are:  Emma,
born February 27, 1871; Evaline, May 12, 1872; John W., December 13, 1873; Oliver P.,
September 26, 1875; Hannah L., December 20, 1877; Charles A., February 3, 1880.  Mrs.
Jenkins’ children by her first husband, James M. Gore, are:  Delilah J., born August 22,
1859; Tabitha, June 13, 1861; James M., January 29, 1864.  Mr. Gore was killed in the late
war, September 29, 1864.  The parents of Mr. Jenkins are Nathan and Hannah (Webb)
Jenkins.  John and Mary (Hammond) Rowe are the parents of Mrs. Jenkins.  They came to
this county in 1856.  Elias and Archibald Jenkins, brothers of Nathan, were soldiers in the
late war.  They served to the close, when they received their honorable discharge.  After
their return home they both became members of the Baptist church.  Archibald died July
12, 1880.  Mr. Jenkins joined the Baptist church in 1872, and in 1880 he was authorized to
preach the gospel, and officiates in that capacity at present for the regular Baptist
church.  He was elected clerk of Lawrence township in the spring of 1882.  Mr. Jenkins is
engaged in farming in this township.  His postoffice address is Rock Camp, Lawrence county,
Ohio.

MERRIT E. JUDD – was born in this township November 11, 1839.  His parents were William
F. Judd, born May 15, 1810, died January 2, 1876, and Eliza (Gillett) Judd, born June 16,
1816.  The Judds were of Scotch extraction.  The grandfather of Merrit, Giles Judd, was
born in New York.  He was in the war of 1812.  During the war he swam the Niagara river to
escape being taken prisoner by the British.  He came to Washington county, Ohio about
1815.  In 1830 he came to Lawrence county; in 1852 he went to Jefferson county, Illinois.
He died in Illinois in 1862.  Mr. Judd’s father, William F., was born in Tompkins county,
New York, came to Washington county in 1815; in 1830 he came to this county, and starting
a farm, married Eliza Gillett, February 27, 1834.  She was born in the same place as her
husband.  She came to this county in 1820.  William F. Judd died January 2, 1876.  His
venerable wife still survives him.  She resides with her son, Merrit, who was married in
Gallia county, Green township, Ohio, January 28, 1880, his choice being Marinda F. Hulbert.
She was born in Dansville township, Steuben county, New York, January 26, 1849.  The
Hulberts are of English extraction, having descended from Sir George Hulbert of England.
Grandfather Hulbert, Moses, was born in Northampton, Massachusetts.  He removed to
New York, settling in Ann, Washington county.  From there he removed to Steuben county,
where he died in 1847.  Grandmother Hulbert died in the same county in 1846.  Mrs. Judd’s
father, Lester Hulbert, was born in Washington county, New York, and went with his
parents to Steuben county at the age of eight years, where he grew to manhood.  He
married Feronia Henshaw June 15, 1832.  She was born in Tompkins county, New York.
They came to Gallia county in 1854, where he permanently located as a farmer.  He died
December 24, 1879, where his widow still resides.  Mrs. Judd’s father was born July 6,
1808, and died December 24, 1878.  Her mother, Feronia (Henshaw) Hulbert, was born June
20, 1812.  Mr. Judd is a member of the farmer’s club of Lawrence county.  His father was
also a member.  Mr. Judd’s postoffice address is Proctorville, Lawrence county, Ohio.
