Lois L. Mittelstadt, 72, formerly of Killdeer, died
Jan. 21, 2004, in Dallas. Lois was interred next to her husband, Ray, at the
Oakdale Cemetery, Killdeer, with a private family service.
Lois L. Heise
was born May 21, 1931, at Bismarck, N.D., the daughter of Edward and Ione
(Rosborough) Heise. She was raised and educated in Makoti, and as an eighth
grader her family moved to Killdeer where she graduated from Killdeer High
School in 1949. Lois went on to North Dakota State University and graduated with
a degree in home economics.
Lois married Raymond Mittelstadt on Aug. 1,
1954, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Killdeer. They farmed and ranched
in the Regent area until the late 1950's, when they moved to Killdeer, ranching
and farming there until 1986. Her husband died Jan. 20, 1988. Lois had been
dealing with Alzheimer's for the past 13 years, and for the last seven years she
had lived in Dallas to be near her daughter and son-in-law.
Lois was a
wonderful cook, and she enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing working on crafts,
decorating cakes and taking care of her family. She was very civic minded and
had participated in numerous community groups and activities.
Lois is
survived by her son, Dennis Mittelstadt, Billings, Mont.; her beloved grandson,
Lee Mittelstadt; and her daughter and son-in-law, Ione and Russ Kubik, Dallas.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and one brother,
Eddie.
