 REV. WILLIAM W. DAVIDSON – is now nearly 84 years old, and he is the oldest settler
living in the county.  He came here with his father in 1799, when he was only six months old.
He was born in Fayette county, Pennsylvania, November 6, 1798.  He has been a minister of
the gospel for about fifty years.  His father, William Davidson, died November 16, 1811,
and his mother, Barbara (McDole) Davidson, October 18, 1831.  Mr. Davidson has been
thrice married.  His first wife was Sarah Short; the date of the ceremony was May 31,
1821.  She was born March 26, 1803, and died October 23, 1834.  The following are their
children by this marriage:  Ira H., born September 9, 1822, died in November, 1822;
William F., February 4, 1825, resides at St. Louis, Missouri; Paton S., September 16, 1827,
resides at La Crosse, Wisconsin; Matilda (Shepherd), August 20, 1829, died March 16,
1862; Sarah (Shepherd), April 10, 1832, resides at Port Byron, Illinois.  His second wife was
Nancy (Lawson) Davidson.  They were married November 30, 1837.  She was born December
3, 1803 and died December 5, 1853.  The following are the children:  Nancy (Brubaker),
born March 7, 1839, resides in Lawrence county, Ohio; Thomas L., June 27, 1840, resides at
St. Louis, Missouri; Joseph, December 5, 1842, died October 18, 1855; Jeremiah J., March
30, 1845, resides in this county; Harrison K., January 27, 1847, died September 13, 1847.
The third marriage of Mr. Davidson took place in Lawrence county, Ohio, October 5, 1854,
to Lovina, daughter of Christian and Martha (Lee) Yingling, whose death took place
September 12, 1856 and May 8, 1877, respectively.  They settled in this county in 1798.
Mrs. Davidson was born in Lawrence county July 7, 1815.  Following are the children by this
marriage:  Lovina, born August 20, 1855, died September 8, 1879; Robert Y., January 13,
1857, resides at St. Louis, Missouri; Mary K. (Ferguson), June 14, 1858, resides at home.
Andrew Yingling, the grandfather of the present Mrs. Davidson, was one of the warriors of
the revolution, serving seven or eight years.  Christian Yingling, her father, was a soldier of
the war of 1812.  Two of Mr. Davidson’s sons were in the late war.  Thomas L. enlisted in
1862 in the 27th Ohio Volunteer Infantry and served three years; he was wounded at the
battle of Atlanta, which disabled him for further service, and he was honorably discharged.
Jerry J. enlisted in August, 1864, in the 173rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry, serving one year,
and was discharged at Camp Dennison.  Mr. Davidson resides on a farm in Perry township.

REUBEN DAVISSON—was born in Lawrence county, Ohio, June 30, 1819.  His parents,
Nathaniel and Elizabeth (Kelley) Davisson, were among the pioneers of this county, having
settled here in 1800.  The first wife of Mr. Davisson was Cynthia E. Wood, who died
November 22, 1866; she was the mother of the following children:  Henrietta, born
October 10, 1847, died December 22, 1849; Charles W., May 30, 1849, resides in Aid; Mary
A., January 31, 1851, resides in Aid; Bermadell C., December 27, 1854, died October 18,
1855; Edward T., January 29, 1858, resides in Aid; Jacob D., September 18, 1859, resides
in Aid; Parnell, August 5, 1862, died January 19, 1866; Rufus, June 20, 1866, died January
18, 1867.  The second wife of Mr. Davisson is Isadore Powell, who is a native of this county,
born January 5, 1844; their marriage took place in Aid, December 24, 1879.  They have two
children, viz:  Cecie, born October 11, 1880; and Elizabeth C., January 5, 1882.  The parents
of Mrs. Davisson are Decatur and Catherine (Kelley) Powell, settlers of this county in 1880.
Mr. Davisson has been county commissioner for nine years, and township trustee for four
years.  Mr. Davisson came to Marion in 1846, where he is at present engaged in
merchandising.  His address is Aid, Lawrence county, Ohio.

 JAMES M. DEERING – was born in the county of Wayne, West Virginia, December 27,
1814.  His father, John Deering, senior, was born in 1769 in Stokes county, North Carolina;
from there he removed to Cabell county, West Virginia; from there to Greenup county,
Kentucky, and then to Lawrence county, Ohio, in 1830, where he died in 1843.  At the age of
twelve years he served as a teamster in the revolutionary war under General Washington.
He was a minister of the Baptist church for forty years.  Ruhamah (Davis) Deering, the
mother of James, was also born in Stokes county, North Carolina, in 1773; in 1830 she came
to this county and died here in 1843.  James M. Deering and Lydia Owen were married in
this county February 18, 1836.  She was born in Pike county, Kentucky, December 2, 1819.
Their children are:  Mary F. (Staley), born December 18, 1836, resides in Wayne county,
Illinois; John L., January 4, 1838, resides in Lawrence county, Ohio; William W., July 5,
1839, resides in this county; Elizabeth A. (Howel), March 16, 1841, resides in this county;
Martha A. (Falwell), March 21, 1845, resides in Livingston county, Missouri; James H.,
December 7, 1847, resides in this county; Richard C., February 25, 1849, resides in this
county.  The parents of Mrs. Deering are William and Lydia (Ratcliff) Owen.  Her father
was born in Tazewell county, Virginia, in 1800, and died in 1839.  Her mother was born in
Pike county, Kentucky, in 1805, and came to this county in 1835, where her death occurred
in 1878.  Two of Mr. Deering’s sons were in the war of the rebellion; John L. and William W.
Both enlisted in 1861 in the 4th Ohio Cavalry for three years.  William was taken prisoner
at Lexington, Kentucky, and paroled the same day.  They were both discharged in 1864.  Mr.
Deering held the postmastership from 1855 to 1859, was infirmary director for three
years and also filled other public offices.  His residence is in Perry township and he is
engaged in farming.  His address is Forest Dale, Lawrence county, Ohio.

 that I am trying to locate that holds many birth, marriage, and death dates for the
 Ratcliff line.  Please contact me if you may know where to locate this Bible.

WILLIAM H. DINNEN—and Phoebe Paten were married in Lawrence county, Ohio, March
 20, 1865.  He was born in this county in 1842, and his wife is also a native of this county,
 born in 1850.  The parents of Mr. Dinnen are James and Elizabeth (Vitten) Dinnen,
 residents of this county.  The following comprise the family of Mr. Dinnen:  George H., born
 April 22, 1867; William E., November 14, 1868; Mary E., August 21, 1870; Carlas, April 14,
 1872; Oliver P., March 30, 1874; Charles F., March 5, 1876; David O., February 4, 1878;
 James A., November 14, 1880; Layura, December 22, 1881.  They all reside in Aid township.
  The parents of Mrs. Dinnen are Isaac and Rebecca (Liston) Paten, who settled in Lawrence
 county in 1820.  Mr. Dinnen is a resident of Aid township, where he is engaged in farming.
