"To know the character of a community I need only to visit the cemetery." Benjamin Franklin
With much gratitude, Ruby Preston has provided the cemetery photograph and the oldest of three deeds to the Lake Creek Cemetery. Most importantly, she has provided a surname index to the Lake Creek Cemetery. This submission is so valuable to genealogists and family historians seeking the burial grounds of their Delta County ancestors. If you locate your surname, please contact Donald Preston for additional information the Delta County Library.
We celebrate with hats off and much love to Mrs. Ruby Preston who cares deeply about the preservation of Lake Creek Cemetery. From the photograph provided, it is apparent that The Lake Creek Cemetery Association members are a truely dedicated group of individuals. Honorable mention to the association members: W. T. "Butch" Burns, Patricia "Pat" Gilbert, Brenda Miller, LaFray Mitchell, Donald R. Preston, James T. Preston, & Ruby Preston.
Previously, Mr. Art Gilbert and his son maintain the Lake Creek Cemetery grounds. Even with health problems, Mr. Gilbert worked very hard to keep the cemetery grounds looking nice. He went the extra mile to make repairs and paint. We the Gilberts and extend our humble appreciation wholeheartedly.
