CHARLESTON. — A post village on Sulphur river, in Delta County 347 miles northeast of Austin, 12 east of Cooper, the county seat and 19 southeast of Paris, the nearest railroad station and banking point. Settled in 1854, it contains steam grist and saw-mills, a church and a public school. Cotton is the principal shipment. Population, 250. Mail, semi-weekly. Z. R. Terrell, postmaster.
