Hello! I am Trish Elliott-Kashima, the Hawaii County coordinator for the HIGenWeb Project. My husband's paternal ancestors lived on the Big Island for a few generations and his maternal family lived on Maui. His family is scattered across the Islands and on the mainland. I lived on Oahu as a child as my Dad was a Marine. We were there when Hawaii became a State in 1959, and was on the Big Island during the eruption of Kilauea Iki in 1959. I have not lived in Hawaii for many years.
April 2018: New items: Additions to newspapers on Jan 31, 1902, July 1856; bio on Dr Charles Wetmore; historical information on Hilo Boarding School, a brief history of schools in Hawaii before 1831, Ka'u High and Pahala Elementary School, Honokaa High and Intermediate School.
The site is re-indexed every Monday. If you see that I have uploaded new information before Monday about noon, try using "control f" as a search tool for the page you are interested in, on that specific page.
All comments, suggestions and submissions are very welcome. Please share photos and family trees and anything else to do with Hawaii County. Email me here. Check back often. |
